Purpose and objectives

Our purpose

Our purpose is scientific research in the fields of electrical and power engineering, environment, climate change, culture, tourism, biodiversity, social and educational sciences.

In addition:

• promoting and developing education and science by strengthening the intellectual, institutional, material and social framework corresponding to educational and scientific research activities;
• elaborating, organising and financing specific programmes for associative structures;
• resolving interests in the research, education and scientific sectors, both nationally and internationally;
• elaborating, organising and financing specific programmes for disadvantaged categories of people, people at social risk and people with disabilities;
• supporting and financing non-governmental organisations (NGOs) locally, regionally and internationally;
• involving youth groups, community groups and local, regional and national administration in actions for sustainable development, health protection, environmental protection and social protection, at home and abroad;
• protecting the interests of its members, who work in the field of education and professional training in various fields of activity.

Objectives and activities

Research and dissemination

1. Scientific research in the field of electrical and power engineering, environment, climate change, culture, tourism, biodiversity, social and educational sciences.
2. Fundamental research, industrial research or experimental development, or the wide-scale dissemination of the results of such activities, through teaching, publication or knowledge transfer.
3. Attracting into its ranks a significant part of the graduates of the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, North University Centre of Baia Mare, at home or abroad.
4. Organising a database (a website), periodically updated, directly accessible via the Internet, concerning its members - facilitating two-way communication, as well as developing the data banks needed for documenting and providing information on equipment, machinery, services, suppliers, associations and the situation of existing NGOs locally, nationally or internationally.

Education and debate

1. Involvement in the process of reforming technical education in Romania through the organisation of dialogue groups, round tables, colloquia, conferences, symposia and other forms of debate focused on adapting university strategy and curriculum to the needs of Romanian society.
2. Organising conferences, seminars, colloquia, round tables, study/work groups, both permanent and temporary, as well as conferences and seminars for developing skills and acquiring knowledge in project elaboration, with consultancy in writing them.
3. Organising meetings of an educational, scientific, cultural and social nature - national and international symposia, communication sessions, debates, round tables, cultural events.
4. Initiating, developing and running own programmes and programmes in partnership with public authorities and/or private structures at home and abroad.

Support for civil society and entrepreneurship

1. Developing a support infrastructure for NGO programmes and projects; entrepreneurship in the economy and in the social economy; managing a policy of support and accompaniment for associative structures.
2. Promoting quality education and initial and continuing training through activities specific to education, entrepreneurial culture and improving the quality of work.
3. Promoting economic development programmes for underdeveloped areas and cross-border development programmes, as well as formal, non-formal and informal education.
4. Elaborating and implementing specific programmes of social insertion and reinsertion.

Rights, equal opportunities and inclusion

1. Promoting multicultural and non-discriminatory education among the population.
2. Promoting the principle of equal opportunities between women and men and fighting all forms of discrimination.
3. Promoting fundamental human rights and freedoms.

Professional development

1. Professional development of specialists in various fields of activity.
2. Initiating and supporting actions to increase the professional performance of its members through participation in professional competitions, symposia and local, national or international scientific sessions.
3. Initiating and organising national and international competitions on topics related to its field of activity.
4. Initiating and administering projects and programmes intended to support the NGO sector and the economic sector.
5. Elaborating and promoting social, environmental and youth policies.

Socio-medical services and environment

1. Organising and administering socio-medical and economic activities: socio-medical home care networks, sheltered housing and workshops, retirement homes, homes for disadvantaged and disabled people, temporary shelters, nurseries, kindergartens.
2. Organising, monitoring and applying programmes, projects and activities for nature conservation, environmental protection, ecology, and the development of agritourism and ecotourism.
3. Maintaining relations with domestic and international organisations and institutions in the field.

Labour market and business environment

1. Providing material assistance and specialised consultancy services to support, promote and develop entrepreneurship, with a view to integration with the business environment.
2. Long-term promotion of the reintegration into the labour market of inactive people, young people, graduates and the unemployed, including from rural areas.
3. Facilitating access to education and to the labour market for vulnerable groups.
4. Promoting the image of the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, North University Centre of Baia Mare, at home and abroad, in order to recruit valuable candidates for admission.

Consultancy, studies and expertise

1. Supporting, promoting and developing Centres of initiation, information and consultancy targeting sustainable development, environmental protection, health and social protection.
2. Elaborating studies and strategies on the development of civil society.
3. Establishing a body of experts, based on their professional and scientific activity, able to provide services to non-governmental structures and organisations or to interested parties.
4. Awareness campaigns for young people on their freedoms, rights and obligations.

Academic community

1. Supporting the organisation of anniversary events for graduate cohorts by using the association's database and providing the framework for them.
2. Promoting practice, continuing professional training and scientific research in various scientific fields.
3. Involvement in raising the level of training and labour-market orientation of students of the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, North University Centre of Baia Mare, as well as of other national and international universities, through: a) assistance in organising students' production practice during their years of study and in preparing diploma projects; b) organising, in collaboration, visits to relevant industrial units and conferences by specialists in the faculty's lecture halls; c) brokering scholarship offers for students from economic operators interested in recruiting students and new graduates; d) organising actions to promote the original creative work of teaching staff, students and graduates.

Publications and materials

1. Publishing an association journal presenting the achievements of its members, of the teaching staff of the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, North University Centre of Baia Mare, and of students; recollections from the faculty's history (photographs, memories, moments from the lives of graduates and teaching staff in different periods); news about graduates at home and abroad; and works of interest in the fields of education, art and science.
2. Producing and distributing teaching materials, auxiliary materials and educational aids.
3. Carrying out studies to identify risk factors affecting quality of life and quality of education, and to identify and define the development needs of economic operators and public and/or private authorities at home and abroad.

Training and intervention

1. Active involvement in the instructional-educational process by organising further training courses in the association's fields of interest.
2. Carrying out surveillance, prevention and alerting, cooperation and intervention activities, where the situation requires it, in accordance with legal provisions or on the basis of agreements concluded with the competent bodies.
3. Modernising attitudes and mentalities in relation to education and science.
4. Improving educational, artistic and scientific techniques.
