Student camp in Maramureș
A week of traditional craft workshops in Maramureș, closing with an intercultural festival: pottery, beadwork, pies, folk dances and traditional cooking.
Traditional cooking workshop
Maramureș dishes cooked by the students in a wood-fired oven and over open fire, documented for the project's cuisine guide.
Folk dance workshops
Traditional Romanian and Ukrainian dances, taught to each other by students from both countries and performed at the intercultural festival.
Pie-making workshop in Vadu Izei and Bârsana
Traditional cooking with hosts in Vadu Izei, followed by visits to Bârsana Monastery and to the crafts of the area.
Beadwork workshop
Zgărdane, traditional beaded collars, are among the most painstaking crafts in the region. Students learned the technique from local craftspeople.
Pottery workshop
Students worked at the potter's wheel alongside craftspeople, and the resulting vessels were 3D-scanned for the digital album.
Craft workshops in the Ukrainian Carpathians
Egg painting, pottery, dough figures and traditional weaving, learned directly from Hutsul craftspeople in the Ivano-Frankivsk region.
