Zgărdane are the traditional beaded collars worn in Maramureș, among the most painstaking items of folk costume in the region. Each pattern has its meaning, and the technique is passed from one generation to the next.
The students worked alongside craftspeople, then visited the local museum collection to see the historical variants of the patterns.
